I took my grandmother shopping like I do every week. She lost my grandfather 2 1/2 years ago in October and she has not been the same ever since, It's kind of sad! She as fallen way too many times and I am sure more then any of us know about. I am her only grandchild that is around to take her shopping. Her children all live in different states and so do her other grandchildren except my brother, though he is busy with his own life and does live about 30 minutes away. I live right around the corner from her, Plus I truly do not mind taking her out to start off with.
This shopping trip was suppose to only be for her, and normally it is, well till today. My kids had wanted me to make them Corn beef and cabbage for the longest time, though I have never made it before ( GOD help them ) I had to ask my grandmother how to make it ( she is a true blooded Irish women, and stubborn as one too.. LOL ), As I was putting what I needed into the cart, I noticed I started putting more and more items in, so bad that I had to ask my grandmother if the cart is getting to heavy for her to push ? It was almost like I was taking over the shopping cart and her stuff was getting pushed further and further to the side. I ended up spending about $59.00 and it was just not on my dinner for tonight, I also bought a few things to have in the house plus kitchen products. Don't you just hate going grocery shopping when you are hungry? I am sure your bank account does not like it. Well it's OK I am sure I will cook it sooner or later.
I enjoy looking up recipes on web sites, In fact I feel as if I am the queen of Web site recipes. When I make dinner my son will ask me "Is this a Web site recipe" and if I say YES, he then will make a comment about how its not going to be that good. He is such a picky eater, I have yet to find a child who will eat other kinds of foods besides Chicken Nuggets, Pizza, Cereal, Spaghetti, FAST FOOD and a very limited amount of other foods providing he can add ketchup or mustered to it.
I am not a very good cook, in fact I hate cooking, and most of the time I will do everything in my power to get away with out cooking. Though I know I need to feed the kids some how. LOL
But anyway I am getting off the shopping with my grandmother topic. I enjoy taking her shopping because we not only get to spend a few hours with one another, we also get to go to lunch after wards.. just like I did when I was real young, now I am just a older version of a younger me ( does that make any sense? )
Do any of you have any memories of your grandmother ? Would love to hear them. Please feel free to comment at the bottom of this entry.
